Our Labyrinths
In the spring of 2019 we were awarded a Chalice Lighter Grant in support of our Labyrinth Project. Our goals were many; a. To create a 30′ by 30′ walk-able canvas labyrinth, b. to purchase a bamboo finger labyrinth, and c. To create a child friendly labyrinth for learning purposes. Once created these labyrinths would be offered to our congregation and to the wider local community as a way of outreach and to build area partnerships. We have fulfilled the goals of the grant.
Our hope is to reach out to local organizations by inviting other religious and non-religious communities in the area to join us to walk our labyrinth. Grand Rapids is home to several college campuses and we will reach out to the academic communities as well and offer our labyrinth as a way of de-stressing during exam weeks.
Our vision is to host indoor labyrinth walks in our large social hall several times a year. These events would be open to the public and act as a way of outreach and bridge building. And of course as a way of offering a new spiritual practice not readily available to most people.
In addition we have a finger labyrinth to offer an alternative experience for those with accessibility issues. Our hope is to offer a labyrinth experience as a way of de-stressing in these stressful times.
